Hardwood window costs - ballpark figure

Just wondering if anyone has a ballpark figure on the cost of new wooden windows, fitting included, per window? Non-sash. Dbl glazed. Biggish but essentially standard sized - they’re not vast 6ft high things!

I know there are multiple varying factors but to give me an idea...am due to view a gorgeous period property this weekend which has tatty UPVC windows currently.

I need an outline idea of what it’ll cost me to replace them to to decide whether I can actually afford the house! Love it on paper but it needs other work and I will cancel viewing if I just can’t afford it all.

Any ideas?

We got quotes for sashes in the last house and they were all about 2k per sq m of window. Probably cheaper for casement windows but generally a lot lot more expensive than UPVC.

Our large sashes were £2k each - London prices.

£300-£1.2k each I should think. Depends on the size of the wndows, too. I luffs my UPVC windows, btw.

@Qc16 Do you remember who did the sashes? Sounds very reasonable.

OP, another option that is sometimes possible is fitting slimline double glazing into existing frames.

Am I allowed to recommend such companies here. They’ve just been fitted by a joinery company in Fulham. All double glazed of course I’ll send you a private message.

We’re not allowed double glazing and our small sash windows are hard to open and very draughty.
Anyone have any idea of cost to replace these? In south west. Would we get Listed consent to do it, the existing windows are definitely not the originals.

One large casement, one small sash and 2 medium sash cost me £4200

(London)

Our hardwood timber doubled glazed big sash windows were about £1k per window (a bay would count as 3 windows)
Ours are large but we are in the NE of England so lower prices and we had to pay for decoration on top as they were only primed.
We are paying less for the casements & fixed windows in our extension.
