Wraparound extension

Our house is tiny (70sqm) but we're in a good location in London and the house is fully detached.

There is no way we could move with the prices houses are going for and I don't want to move far from my family. We have enough space to do a full, two storey wraparound extension - even to double the size of house.

Has anyone done this and are there any tips or watch outs? I've scoured this board and seems like I should allow at least £2k per m2 - is that right?

Somewhere between 2.2 - 2.6k per m2. 2k is a bit of an old figure to be using although many architects etc still spout it and are 'fake amazed' when the build quotes come back...
