Just that really. I know grey has had its moment to shine but just curious to know what people think will be the Next Big Thing or if you could change something about the decoration in your house, what would you go for? Looking for inspiration!

Don’t know. Personally I would avoid anything overly trendy that will soon date and go for something that I won’t get tired of looking at. It costs too much to keep changing things and isn’t good for the environment.

its annoying because I love it but I know that in two years, it'll be everywhere and I will fall out of love with it.

Brass/gold is everywhere also. Especially for lamps.

Navy walls are definitely a thing also.
I expect blush pink to be big as well.

Moving away from just open plan to a reception plus kitchen diner.

Island/ breakfast bars seem on the way out.

Having cycle storage and a home office is a current trend.

We have a navy/copper kitchen. It's gorgeous but we're moving so will be embarking on a new project.
I think I'll go for a muted kitchen this time, quite classic!
There won't be any grey in the new house!

Huge family / dining / kitchens with bifolds.
Lots of my friends have them, and confess in whispers that they wish they didn't, they are always messy if you've young dc, and besides you can't seem to get away from anyone to cook in peace. I'm very glad I didn't go down that road.

I’ve seen a big rise in Shaker-style kitchens (which I think are awful) and big single-story extensions out into the garden to turn a small-medium kitchen into a kitchen-dining-living space - which always seem too multi-purpose with everyone getting in everyone else’s way.

If you want inspiration for what might help your house sell (which I assume is what you’re looking for because surely if this inspiration were for your day to day life you’d go with what you actually liked rather than what might be the next “big thing” ) then stick to neutral and easy to change because one person’s trendy and fashionable is another’s nightmare.

I've still got a dark forest green bread bin from the last time it was fashionable!
I'm coming to the end of our refurb and it's hard to avoid trends unless you can afford custom made bespoke stuff. I've ended up with more grey than I intended, (though it's mainly white and pale wood.) The plan is for a neutral background personalised by pictures and soft furnishings. As recommended by Pinterest!
I've kidded myself that I'm not influenced by fashion but 10 years down the line it will scream 2020 refurb. I'll have to hang on until it come round again like my bread bin!

Navy & dark grey kitchens. Gloss & concrete surfaces & cupboards in kitchens (like a mortuary). Spindley legged furniture. mural walls (or murials as my old boss used to call them). Dark Green sofas. house Plants everywhere. Open plan living. Still lots of pale grey and blush pink too. Thankfully, brown and teal has died a death.

I’d avoid any trends if I were you. They date so quickly. Best going for a timeless style imo.

Does anyone have any suggestions for good house accounts on Insta or Pinterest that show just quite neutral, classically done houses? I like the scandi style (though maybe that would also be classed as a trend?!). I follow loads on Insta but they are all so overdone and 'on trend' and samey 😬

It doesn’t really matter how bleeding-edge any trends suggested here are; there will be someone who will roll their eyes and declare them ‘dated’.

I think as a general rule, however, people are starting to use colour again after years of grey.

Navy ain't the next big thing.. its the current thing! Next big kitchen trend will be powder pink units and colour clash I think.
