What colour is this worktop

Am I ott in thinking this white laminate isn’t really white but more a cream ?

I'd say its grey from those photos.

I'd describe it as stone coloured, so a mix of grey and beige, but more grey when you look closely at the flecks.

Were you expecting it to be pure white?

Looking at a John Lewis brochure (I have one handy) it could be Quartz Silica or White. Both have speckles and are not pure white. Or it could be Solid Surface in Speckle. My DD has this and it’s very similar to your picture. There are loads of quartz worktops that are like this. You could look at suppliers and ask for samples.

Yes I saw a sample and it was white- the invoice said white- I thought the duller look was the cover on it- today it came off. I doubt I’ll be able to sway a replacement but a part refund?

OP it does look very similar to what’s on their website. Do you not have a sample from when you choose it to compare to?

Your kitchen is lovely but I wouldn't be very happy either. It does look white when you don't look at it up against a brilliant white which your units are. Did u not get the opportunity to hold the sample up against the units in the showroom? That was how I picked the worktop for the utility room. Also the kitchen company also let me take a door away with me as I was getting quartz worktops elsewhere as was cheaper to go direct.

I would consider complaining, at least to hear what they say as it isn't white more an off white.

Yes was all seen when there- I will be speaking to them on Tuesday- I’m so pissed off, these aren’t cheap easy purchases grrrr

We have that one in the utility room, and in all honesty its a brighter white than the picture you have posted. Its just a thought, but do you have warm white bulbs in the lights? if so, try changing them to a cool white to see if it makes it look a brighter white. It does look lovely though, don't stress too much

The problem OP is it is impossible to “remember” colours so what might have looked right in the showroom and in your minds eye, won’t necessarily look right in situ. Just because it’s called “white” I don’t think that makes any difference! The name of it is only a marketing description

I would also be really surprised if there’s much of a variation in the colour of a laminate - a natural stone yes but a laminate I would have through would have been much more consistent because it’s manufactured.

How are you going to pitch your complaint? Because if you are only going on what you saw in the showroom, how are you going to prove that isn’t the same as what has been supplied??

Personally I would be driving today to another showroom of the same company, tell them nothing and pretend you're considering what colour to go for. Get a sample - take it home and compare with yours. Then you know where you stand and whether you have grounds for a complaint. And if you do, you also have the necessary evidence.

It’s not white, but then you’ve paired it with a bright white cabinet door - did you look at them together? We have a ‘white’ quartz which isn’t actually white (and was never sold to us as white either - the absolute white was another £1k). But as our worktop is on a grey/navy kitchen it looks white most of the time. Until we put something actually white with it. I think it’s the same thing as you’re seeing here. Really you should probably have looked at it more closely before it was fitted, as you might have been able to exchange it then. I think the kitchen looks great though.

If it helps this is one of my hubbies jobs. (Kitchen fitter). It's a Howdens Clakenwell gloss white kitchen, with the white quartz worktop.

Your'll see it's the "same" as yours - not white "white" if that makes sense.

I think if you go look at the sample you will see it's exactly the same as what you've had fitted. (Colour wise).

I’m defo going to get another sample- regardless I’ll make a complaint but it will determine how much gravitas I have.
Unsure if I suck it up and always slightly hate it or spend even more money on a replacement and additional work..I dread to think.

I agree that their descriptor being ‘white’ is unhelpful. Our quartz is called glaciar, which gives the impression of white but doesn’t actually say white. And every time I referred to it as white to the stone people they were very quick to correct me. And I doubt they would have let me pair it with a white door for this reason.

Howdens today informed me the colour changes when the edge changes- round vs square and also they recently changed the model so I likely saw the old version of the same name which was whiter- fuming
