How long are house sales taking just now?

I know it's a 'how long is a piece of string' question but I'm curious how long others' moves have taken recently.
We've sold to a buyer with a ftb buying theirs and we are moving to a house with no onward chain so I'm hoping it'll all go smoothly... our offer was expected three weeks ago and our mortgage etc is all agreed.
I'm hoping (optimistically) for October- ish. Is this completely unrealistic? (initially we'd hoped for before Christmas before finding out there was no onward chain so will happily adapt whatever happens)

Most banks are experiencing delays due to volume. I would say at least 6-12 weeks as you have a FTB in the chain.

Short chain - FTB buying ours and our vendors buying something chain free. Took 11 weeks. Our buyers solicitor was shit.

Thanks- does the timeframe estimate run from offer accepted to completion?

My friend just moved. Chain of 3, sold at the start of lockdown so start of April and completed mid July.
I was quite impressed with it only taking 14 weeks in the middle of a global pandemic!

We're about 8 weeks in and waiting for the enquiries to come back from the vendor. It's a chain free, cash purchase. We're hoping we can be in before schools start, but it's looking less and less likely.

Yes timed from us having our offer accepted. It should have taken a week or so less but the legals really dragged their heels.
