Patio sloping towards house

I've just had someone round to quote for a new sandstone patio. He said that as the current patio slopes towards the house, he suggests removing the existing patio (which is in terrible condition and can't stay) and excavating so that the new patio would slope towards the lawn not the house. He said otherwise he can install drainage channels around the outside but he said it'll give a better finish if they excavate. Id there any other options?

I've got drainage around the house and a slight incline towards it. They made a big fuss because I wanted arco drains around the base of the house but I'm glad I did.
I do have a wet garden though and fields feeding more water my way.
