Extension and kitchen fitting

Hi, this might sound really stupid but I'm confused! When you get an extension built (kitchen/diner) and builder quotes that is usually just for the building work yes? And then kitchen fitting would be separate? So would the builder refer onto a fitter who would then charge their own price for fitting the kitchen? As the builders are going on about using a designer they use from Howdens, surely Howdens have their own fitters? We have established the quote is just for the building work and plastering but I'm just confused about the kitchen fitting side.
Sorry I know it's dumb but I'm so awkward and don't wana keep bombarding them with questions ! Would rather wait for my partner to do it Blush

Depends on what you asked for. Generally you need to be VERY clear on what the quote should contain. Get them to list any exclusions, these are usually things like kitchen, bathrooms, tiles etc as prices vary enormously. They can then quote for fitting.

Never forget this is your project by the way, it's not theirs. So you use whichever fitters you like, designers you like etc.
Double check that they have joinery 2nd fix in by the way - if you leave it at plastering you may not get doorways and skirting boards!
Builders, good ones, will always have recommended fitters but it doesn't stop you from sourcing your own.

I really thought I'd settled on diy kitchens, but now thinking it might be worth having a design done by Howdens just to compare!
