Dream forever home!

Well just need to get this off my chest. I cant talk about in real life as I don't want to jinx it! We put our house on the market in the Summer as we saw a house that could be our forever home. I love our current house, my children have grown up here and it is spacious and has everything we need. We have lovely neighbours and work and school are a good distance away. But it has never been the home I want to grow old in, our final stop as it were. In the Summer we spotted a house we liked, had a viewing and loved it, some reservations but liked it enough to put ours on the market. Then in the Autumn it sold and we had not sold ours. However, I was not upset! I thought that I would be and saw this as a big clue it was not meant to be the one! Then we saw THE house. It is everything I wanted and more. It means a longer commute to work by 15 mins and is not in an area we thought it would be. But it is stunning, rural location with views, In a style I love and picture perfect, every feature I could ever want ( well no swimming poolGrin) head over heels in love with it. Literally my dream house. Then.... we sold ours. Just found out our offer has been accepted on the dreamhouse.

I know that I need to remain calm. A long way to go yet. Anything can happen, we are not telling anyone in real life yet at least until we exchange. But I could burst and had to share somewhere!

I was beginning to lose faith that ours would sell as the market has been dead. We have had lots of viewings but no one who wanted it until now.

So much running through my head. I am over the moon, trying to remain calm and also feeling sentimental that this will be our last Christmas in the home our children grew up in. And how much I have to do!

Just needed to share Grin

Fingers crossed for you op. We had the same earlier this year and I didn't allow myself to belief we were moving till we actually got the keys! We've been in since October and we love this house. Lots to do to make it ours but it's felt like home from the first day. Thanks

Ah this is lovely. In a similar boat- looked around a house I didn't think we could buy as ours wasn't even on the market. Skipped around in a dream, sold ours in 2 weeks and offer accepted.

Now a lot of holding our breath whilst things happen. Really pleased for you OP. (Shame about the swimming pool though) Grin

Desparatehousewife no link I am afraid, would be tempting fate, sorry Grin
ranoutofquinoa (I love your username) lovely to hear that, I felt this house was home the moment we walked in to view it!
Chronicallymothering Congratulations! Best of luck. I feel as if I am going to be holding my breath until it happens too! Ha ha the amount of rain we have at the moment it may well have a pool by the time we get there!

Would love to hear anyone else's stories about getting the forever house!

Oh congrats OP and fingers crossed - I know what you mean about wanting to talk to someone but not being able, this happened when we found our dream home and put in an offer and couldn't tell anyone until it all went through - 8 1/2 years later and it is still the dream forever home.

Such an exciting time, I hope it all goes smoothly - please post us an update and a pic (without outing) when you know more.

Thank you Annasgirl Smile I am so excited I could burst. All has halted now until after Christmas but we have booked in a survey on the house for beginning of Jan. I can not wait to tell people but we will wait until exchange. I alternate between total excitement and disbelief and terror at the prospect of packing up our house. I also worry as although I know that the house is perfect, the area is unknown to us. It is not the area we thought we would end up in but the house is too perfect. Nothing wrong with the area as far as I can tell but just unfamiliar.

So glad it all worked out for you Annasgirl and so glad it is still the dream home now Smile

Will keep you all posted!

Ooooh exciting! We are stiiiiiill waiting. Surveys done before Christmas, but the bank didn’t like one of them and waited a month to request another one.
I’m hoping we aren’t too far behind you. The waiting is killing me !
Fingers crossed you exchange and complete pretty soon !

Thank you both! Café fingers crossed for you too. I hate the lack of control, we do have to chase everything and really be on top of the solicitor. They must think we are a pain but we have had to manage all parties Grin We are very lucky that it is such a short chain. Just praying that we exchange by Friday . I have had removal companies come to quote but can not do more until we exchange then full steam ahead! Let us know how you progress Smile
