Both house are within a 2 minute walk of each other... one being on a non busy road, the other being in a cul de sac off that road. Both houses were originally the same style, (3 bed semis,2 double rooms, 1 box room, 2 reception rooms, kitchen) but both have been extended.
Property A .... now 5 bed. So 2 original doubles, plus master suite extension with dressing room and en suite. Plus they have knocked box room through to extension to make a weirdly shaped larger 4th bedroom. They have extended loft to make a huge bedroom plus small 'playroom'
Large garden, no garage, small driveway and parking in the culdesac could be a pain (this could be a problem with a van a car and kids who are reaching teenage age).
Down stairs they have made the original part of house all open plan. Then added a separate living room in the extension. Has toilet and utility downstairs. This house is clearly and extended house that has been a little squished into the plot of land it's on.
House B
Again extended to 5 bed, keeping 2 original doubles and the box and adding to medium sized single rooms above the garage. Has a garage.
Huge beautiful driveway/front garden set back from the road. Huge back garden!
Downstairs they have kept the original small living room, extended the back living room to make it living/dining. Same size kitchen as house A but with a little breakfasting bit. Has downstairs toilet, no utility.
This house looks like it has always been this big, fits on the piece of land perfectly, just looks nicer
Both houses would need about the same amount of decor. House A would need layout of downstairs changing to suit us, probably involving moving the kitchen, some walls. House B would benefit with a small extension (2 walls, 2m each max) just to square kitchen to make it perfect) could take small amount of garage to create a utility room. Could extend into the loft for the larger 5th bed.
House A is 50k cheaper but is a repossession so are wanting 28 day turn around and it could be a nightmare being bank owned... we have only just sold our house this week and are stuck in a small chain so could be a risk. It has only just gone up for sale so negotiations, viewings etc will buy us some time. Also run the risk of bidding wars, final bids etc. So could lose out.
We looked at this house a year ago and then it was taken off the market temporarily, after a few months we gave up and moved on. we were informed it was coming back on the market a few weeks ago and have done everything in our power to get rid of our house just to be in a position to buy this one. The agent contacted us the day we sold ours to arrange a viewing! Really feel like it was meant to be, like it's waited for us for the full year etc. (Silly? Probably)
House B we looked at in May, hadn't sold ours, it sold! I spent weeks and weeks feeling down, sleepless nights, dreaming about this house that was so perfect for us etc (sad I know!)
Couldn't believe that it also came back on the market the day we sold ours! Less risk as straight forward sale, although it is empty and they EA have offered for us to buy the already done searches etc.
Hubby likes house B says it just feels more like a forever house that we won't grow out of it because of drive/garden etc. It feels a bit 'posher'. Feels like a 5 bed house.
House A is £50k cheaper! But does fell more like an extended, slightly squished 3 bed. Has more bells and whistles like utility etc. But loses garage for storage, driveway.
I just don't know what to do!
