Extractor fan

I am thinking of having my cooker in the island when we redo the kitchen (so that I can face ppl when cooking). However we cook a lot of curry and fish which can cause unpleasant smells. Are there island extractors which actually extract air to the outside instead of recirculate it? Is installing one a lot more expensive than one on a wall? Thanks in advance!
