Total revamp of lounge - help!!!!

I am clueless, the clock is ticking and the room as it is is horrible!

Room is about 13x13, bay window, south facing, quite light. Chimney breast, but fire place boarded over. Will be used in day for children to play in and adults to use, and in evening as adult space.

It is being skimmed this weekend, and skirtings and coving put on. Hwr, I just don't know about colour schemes, etc.

Dp insists on carpet - what colour??? What colour/farbic/leather sofas? What colour walls (hate wallpaper)? Storage for children's toys?

The room really has to be a jack of all trades, but I just want it to look nice and not like a jumble sale - please help

Why don't you nip out and buy some decorating magazines, at least to get an idea of what sort of colours and styles you like? Nobody else can really tell you your own taste. You could always start with white, and add colour later?
