Mirror splash back - talk me down!

Had our kitchen done last year. Always meant to put white glass splashback behind the hob and the main run of cupboards. Quotes have come in around £1k. I have struggled to justify the cost as the wall is currently white (and wipable) so really I am just paying for it being more shiny! But have now seen a bronzed mirror splashback which I am lusting after! Is this a very, very silly idea? I need to do something as the wall isn’t finished brilliantly because the plan was to do a splashback.

I'm thinking of that also and love the look. Have you had quotes for it?

No but I just put some rough measurements in a random website calculator thingy and it seems to be similarly priced to glass.

I think it looks gorgeous.

I considered it (we've just had the kitchen done), it decided against it because it's so 'now' - it will look really fashionable for a bit, but I worried it would date quickly. But you might be braver than me!

We went for faux marble (Minerva) instead, which looks good.

It's what I really want for our new kitchen, I think they look fab, but not sure if we're going to have the budget cos of everything else I want Sad Where did you find the online calculator?

I think it was Southern Counties Glass but not sure.

I super excited! Depending on cost, I am bloody doing it.

Thanks CoperCabana, I'll look at their website.

So had three quotes. 1 is comparable to glass price but isn’t toughened! For toughened, the other quotes have come in +£300 which I am seriously considering. It’s quite a big area so I am also thinking about whether I go all the way up to the wall cupboards. If I go up to just below the plug sockets, I think this will save a fair bit.

Oh I have one and I totally love it. It was from mirror glass solutions (maybe plate glass solutions?) who were really reasonable and good service

Sorry, when you say bronzed, do you mean aged effect? That's what I have

No it is kind of a tinted bronze. They also do a smoked mirror but that is quite dark. The bronze is quite warm. Does yours steam up a lot and get really smeary?
