Building control rules on steps on entrance storey

Hi, wondering if anyone has experience on a point of detail relating to wheelchair accessibility in Building Control regulations. The regulations state that you should have step free access to the loo on the entrance storey level.

We are doing a new rear extension and renovation to an old house. The loo in the existing old section of the house is a couple of steps down from the entrance hall area, and it will be moved slightly but it makes sense to keep it a couple of steps down once we have done the extension.

So my question is; would the wheelchair accessibility criteria of Building Regs apply to the old part of the house, or just for new build / new extensions?

thanks

Part M regs will be relevant to a new build house. Yours is a refurb so doesn't need to be part M compliant I think ?

Thanks, yes I found the relevant section in Part M regs after I posted. I think you're quite right....fortunately for me!
