Small bathroom- where to store towels?

We're about to have some work done which will make our bathroom smaller to give more bedroom space.

People with small bathrooms- where/how do you store your towels?

Family towels when in use, or spare clean towels?

'in use' towels hang on hooks on the back of people's bedroom doors to dry. Also a hook on the back of the bathroom door, and a towel radiator.

Clean towels live on a shelf in my wardrobe.

I store mine on the back of the door hung up on one of those over the door hangers. They don't look the most tidy but we have little to no storage space and it adds some print and colour.

Wall mounted shelf that comes out at 90o. Fold and stackem.

I meant for clean towels. Wall mounted shelf thing is looking like a good plan.

Would it be ridiculous to have one on the wall at the end of the bath? I wonder if they would get damp? We will be having under floor heating and a good quality extractor so hopefully it won't be too steamy.

That’s what they have in hotels.

I've put a shelf above the door, with baskets on it to hold clean towels and spare loo rolls.

In my small bathroom, the steam is much too close to the towels. They all go in the airing cupboard except for a couple on the heater towel rail which is hidden behind the open door.

We used to have a small bathroom and no "airing cupboard" as we had a combi boiler. Clean spare towels lived in a zip up fabric box thing (from Ikea - I think they are part of the Skubb range) that slid under our bed. We had two fairly large ones - one for spare towels and one for spare sheets. Worked well for us.

Definitely above the door. We have a few hooks on the back of the door in our downstairs loo for in use towels but we store no clean unused towels in there at all. If we did, we'd have to put a shelf above the door.

I have plenty of space in my bathroom but don’t store my clean towels in there. They live in a big freestanding linen press on the landing.

I wouldn't store my clean towels in the bathroom at all, they get damp. Our towels in use are hung on radiator rails in our bedrooms. We just have 1 hand towel in the bathroom.

No airing cupboard here either. Will look at storing above the door and see whether or not it's too damp.

Spork I am guessing that if OP had space for “a big freestanding linen press” in her house she wouldn’t be on here asking where to store her towels? Confused

OP “I am struggling to find a place to put my washing machine”
“Oh, ours is in our massive utility room next to the bespoke dog-washing sink”
Cheers for that.

One thing we do is keep beach/swimming towels somewhere completely separate. Also sewed woven ribbon halfway down each towel so they are easier to hang up.

@JessieMcJessie lol! :-)

My mum keeps hers in the bedroom. I realise this may not be helpful advice as she can barely walk around her bedroom, but in theory they should be in the chest - in reality they are also stored on top.

I have a small house and no bathroom storage apart from a drawer under the sink. I keep my clean towels in the drawers under the bed in spare room.

We got a rack from Ikea (like a luggage rack for bathrooms) and it's above the door in our teeny bathroom- works well!

So the towels don't get damp and steamy Harriet? I think we may end up doing similar.

@veneeroftheweek no they don't seem to, though I never try to use one immediately after using the bath/shower as my "in use" one hangs on back of the door. We also have a good extractor and sometimes open the window too.

I have a wooden 'monks bench' outside the bathroom on the landing and I store most towels inside it. Ones in use are hung on hooks behind door and on rail above radiator in bathroom.

Mine seem to live either in use (on radiator rack to dry) or in the clean clothes basket that somehow is never emptied - despite my regularly attempting to put it all away....

We have a shelf above the towel radiator quite high up. It works well in our small bathroom and the towels don’t get damp. It’s a slatted one.

I have a tiny bathroom and put a narrow tallboy unit between the bath and the door. It has open shelves at the top for storing towels, then the bottom half is a cupboard with loo roll and other toiletteries.
