Extension help wanted

We've just sent our architect's drawings off to the council to hopefully get permission to demolish our old garage conversion & replace it with one a bit bigger. Wanted to know if anyone had any suggestions about how to plan for a stress- free time?

We've chosen to have our architect draw up detailed plans so that we keep within our tightish budget.

We've chosen our builder from recommendations (but will get 2 more quotes just to check it's ok)

I've been told to have a daily meeting with the Builder to discuss any problems etc.

Anything else anyone thinks we should do/do not do. Have no experience with building work & want to get it right. Work us probably due to commence in June.
