Kitchen Design Help/Sanity Check (Obligatory Diagram Included)

So we have realised after 6 months of designing and with our planning application already submitted that we can't fit everything we want (two ovens side by side, 1m larder and integrated larder fridge and larder freezer side by side) into our new kitchen extension.
Decided to compromise on the fridge and freezer and go for a freestanding american fridge freezer.
We came up with a plan which gives us everything we think we want but our kitchen designer said that he would make us sign a waiver before he would order it because it was such a bad design :(
His reasons are that the fridge freezer will be the first thing you see as you walk into the room.
He suggests that we have a larder unit as you walk into the room and the american fridge in between the two ovens.
I am attaching pictures of the design as we imagined it and pictures of an american fridge between two eye level ovens.
Please help us to decide we are agonising over spending a lot of money on what might prove to be a mistake.
Does anybody have a fridge as the first thing you see when you walk into your kitchen/house ( if the kitchen door is open)?
Do you hate it?
What would you do with the space?

Here are some visuals of the kitchen as we imagined it.

There are 4 internal doors going into the space (utility, dining room, hallway, understairs cupboard), two windows and bi folds.

The whole room is about 3.8m by 10m

Where will your hob be?

I love an oven each side of the fridge, the symmetry makes me happy. However I do think that you have to go for what you want.

It wouldn't bother me the room is big enough so the fridge doesn't dominate the room.

The hob will be on the island.

I too love symmetry as does my fiance but we were sold early doors on the idea of the 120cm of oven lining up with the 120cm of island. Having the fridge in the middle changes that a lot.

I know we need to go with what we want but we are a bit clueless we have moved from a tiny one bed flat into a big house needing a full renovation and extension. Neither of us has so much as bought a washing machine before and now we have to buy a kitchen costing tens of thousands of pounds.

I really don't see an issue here.

I'm not sure whether this is helpful but we've just done our kitchen and put the ovens on top of each other (with microwave on top). Would that 'save' you a cabinet space you could use for integrated fridge?
Ps. Kitchen is white, the blue is protective plastic Grin

I like the fridge at the end more tban between ovens, because it doesn't look like you are trying to build cabinets around a freestanding appliance. Usually American fridge freezer have more depth than the fitted units and they tend to stick out. It also gives more flexibility of which fridge/freezer you buy when this one needs replacing.

Another option you can think of is large integrated fridge along the tall units and under counter freezer, though it depends how you use freezer. I am planning on tall full size integrated fridge and under counter freezer because anyway freezers are all drawers so it's ok to have it as under counter unit and Not as bad as having under counter fridge.

Personally I prefer it with the fridge in the middle. It looks a bit out on a limb if it’s on the side and doesn’t work so well

Can you put freezer in utility and have integrated larder fridge in kitchen?

To me the fridge between the ovens looks weird. I know modern ovens are well insulated and it's probably not a real issue, but I just see hot, cold, hot and it looks wrong.

Fridge on the end is convenient for grabbing drinks when you're at the dining table.

This is your kitchen, which should work for you. The designer is not going to live there...

I prefer the fridge freezer by itself as you imagined it. To me it looks very odd in-between two ovens.
But I also prefer the look of the ovens on top of each other like Mini

Is the room already built? Can you have one window instead of two and leave a gap of 120cm instead of 90cm to place larder fridge freezer side by side where you have American fridge/freezer in the picture. It's ok if planning permission is done, to change a bit on size/number of windows. You can submit an amendment to planners and it will easily get approved.

Another thing to bear in mind is that our fridge freezer doors open more than 90 degrees. With the between ovens design if one of you opens the oven and the other opens the fridge, the fridge door will bash into the oven door.

The fridge between the ovens looks really odd to me. I prefer it on the end.

I much prefer the fridge on its own. I really don't like how it looks between the ovens, to me it just looks a bit odd.

We've recently done our kitchen in a very similar style (dark grey cabinets and white worktops) and it is gorgeous though, I'm sure whatever you pick will look lovely when it's done :)

I also don't like the between ovens look. It looks odd and does not seem very ergonomic - surely it's better to have the island immediately behind both ovens so you can turn and put things down. If you were going for the fridge in that position, I'd say have the ovens to one side and one on top of the other. But I've seen kitchens in your layout and the fridge looks fine.

The fridge between two ovens looks mad to me, and surely won't be good for the fridge?? Your plan seems loads better.

I don't think you should have hot ovens next to a fridge. And your design looks fine.

I think your design (fridge on end) looks far better than the designer’s suggestion. Their comment isn’t helpful. Maybe you need a new designer as well as a new kitchen.

I have a similar issue myself as our kitchen is a lot of doorways and trying to fit everything in. Plus you walk straight in to our fridge and freezer.

The ff in the middle of ovens looks ridiculously out of place and I couldn't deal.

So what I did... had 3/4 tower units put in and had two integrated appliances that are 120high. Win: I get a tall ish separate fridge and by the side freezer. Win: it's housed in the kitchen cupboards so you aren't dominated. Win: it's not under counter and more capacity. Win: I can put books / radio etc on top as its eye / chest level. It is more expensive than American ff but aesthetically its way better.

Separate the fridge away. How annoying for the cook if anyone just pops in for a drink, to get milk, to help lay table if they come into your cooking area. Keep them away from tripping you up and at the other end. Same logic for the washerupper/getter of cutlery(can you tell I farm out the other jobs in my house!).

I don't like the fridge in between the oven, and also I prefer the fridge by the garden door, if you are outside you don't want everyone traipsing all around the island to get drinks from fridge. Love your design and that is similar to what I am now thinking. Ps put a big vase of flowers on the island, that will be the first thing people. Notice

Agree with Jenala.

Fridge between ovens feels weird. Hot and cold thing.

I prefer your design.
