Kitchen diner layouts

So I had initially planned a separate formal dining room, but given the size of kitchen I think kitchen diner will be better use of the space it will be seven meters by five metres with patio doors done the long side and a window in the smaller side. Anyone got a similar or any ideas on how to arrange the space. Previously I wanted an island with seating...

Could you post a diagram with your first bash at a layout? It's hard to know where to start without even knowing where the doors are.

We have a room not far off that size (ours is 42 sq m) & it's a reasonable size - we have kitchen, large dining table (normally seats 6 but can extend to seat 10 & all fit) and a big l-shaped sofa.

We're about to reconfigure & will have peninsula with breakfast bar rather than island (I'm not a massive island fan & they take up quite a lot of space - also wouldn't fit brilliantly in our space due to doors etc), table & sofa will still fit comfortably. Ours will be u-shaped kitchen on one side of room (back of room if patio doors are the front).

Friend is planning an extension 5m x 6m & will fit straight run of units, island in front, table & smallish sofa in there.

I'd put the kitchen round the whole of the back wall with the table and chairs in front of the patio doors if it was mine.

I like your second one on the right. The left one doesn't give the cook views out of the patio doors. I think that would be lovely and it's a really generous size. Not sure where would be the best place for the hob. Back wall could work but it would be nice to use tall cupboards for some of that run.

Your 2nd diagram is almost a carbon copy of our revamped kitchen / dining room except our kitchen is slightly narrower than the dining room space (so a kind of L shape rather than a large rectangle)

We have put in an island with breakfast bar along the big window side in the kitchen and a bank of floor to ceiling units with ovens / fridge on the opposite wall. Island has hob and prep sink. End wall in kitchen has main washing up sink.
We also put a few units in the dining room which has tied the space together. We love it!

After another chat with builder, and a comment above about putting kitchen in the other side of room, we have moved the utility room door further down and changed the window to be a patio door. I am now thinking of that area as a casual seating area, with sofas and low table, we have another room we can use as a formal dining rooms
