Exchanging contracts tomorrow. What could go wrong?

We put our house on the market in August, 2 buyers pulled out, now we are the brink of completion (friday) and exchanging tomorrow. We are 8 hours behind the UK. Already given verbal agreement. We get automatic updates to our phone and email when something happens on our case - what time can we expect to formally exchange? This has been a painful drawn out process ruined even further by Countrywide solicitors and Bridgfords estate agent (big complaints on the way from us and our buyer). It's almost over!

On the day your solicitor will want confirmation that you intend to proceed and will then go about their business passing deposits up the line.

Should take several hours. We exchanged in a chain of 4 by around midday (so 3 hours).

If anyone is going to play last minute bollocks then tomorrow is the day for it. Once you've exchanged completion is extremely likely.

We're all chain free here. Hoping to wake up and it's all taken care of (they have our verbal agreement). Fingers crossed our buyer doesn't try anything.

We finally exchanged at 6pm after waiting all day for money to be transferred. So glad it's almost over.

Glad it went well. The whole process is very nerve wracking.

I have had one house sale go wrong at exchange. Another went wrong at completion. (Both were sorted out.... eventually.)

I have also twice sold properties while living in a different country with a time difference.

It is a very stressful process and being far away does not help.

I am sure you will have a smooth completion!

We're all set for tomorrow! I'm sure something will go wrong. Every step of this process has been infuriating. We're about to make an offer on a house here in the US. Contracts are exchanged very soon and completion date is worked out straight away. Friend of mine just did a 2 week completion. Why is the UK system the way it Is?
