Who supplied and fitted your quartz worktops and would you recommend?

Morning all, we are currently researching quartz worktops for a new kitchen we are due to have installed in a couple of months and have fallen in love with Yukon Silestone (funds may not stretch this far though).

Has anyone any recommendations of decent supplier and fitter tha would cover the Surrey area, and for a reasonable price?

Thanks in advance.

Hi, we had ours supplied and fitted by Roann, I learnt about them from MN as well. They are based in Yorkshire but travel - we are in Hampshire. I would thoroughly recommend them.

Topsco. Really pleased and with some good haggling we got this for £2500

We used Y&S Marble in West Drayton. Very competitive price and excellent service. They also have a good selection of 'stock' in their yard where you can view the actual piece you would get if you so desire. Would have no hesitation in recommending them.

You've no top cupboards??? That would drive me nuts!

Our silestone was fitted by natural stone surfaces. Great result. The booking was very sketchy though and only confirmed a day or two before (not great for my pre-Xmas anxieties)

I don't need any top cupboards

DO NOT USE PWS.

3 times they had to refit ours after measuring then cutting it wrong and then trying abide job to fix it. My patience ran out when I was washing up and the sink fell down from inside the worktop. They came round and rather than redoing it all stuck a piece of rough cut soft wood in to hold the sink up.

We ended up getting them to remove everything and had to pay another company to do the job properly.

Thanks all, some great suggestions here.

Baxdream: stunning worktop, which one did you go for? Funnily i was on the phone to Topsco earlier today, i've been impressed with their communication and helpfulness thus far. Can i ask what kind of discount to expect to be able to negotiate with them, e.g. 10% reasonable?

Parkview: Y and S is a name from the past, we actually used them a few years back for a granite worktop for our old house, price was phenomenally cheap. Only criticism we had was they didn't tell us (was it there job to, no idea?!) that the surface was as porous as it was and we didn't seal and ended up with a great big grease stain that we couldn't shift. Live and learn. Fitting was great though. I will certainly get a quote from them.

We had Branco cinzento. Our initial quote was £3300. We got them down to £2500 including an undermount sink and hob and draining grooves. They also fitted 30mm but we had 20mm on our quote (not complaining though!)

Topsco just sent me a sample of that Branco Cinzento, it's stunning!

Isn't it beautiful? Think we're going for it in our kitchen - thanks Baxdream.

Topsco also seemed v ready to negotiate - just hope the price they've given me sticks at templating!

Bax - stunning ! -- how much m2, templating, fitting and extras are in that quote if you don't mind me asking?

Baxdream · 24/01/2018 08:39

Ours stayed the same after templating. Our kitchen is about 5 metres wide, with about an extra 3 metres down the side. Our island is about 1 metre by 2 metres

Hello! Highly recommend Rosewood Kitchens think they would work for Surrey and I have beautiful quartz. Can’t remember what it’s called but it’s white and sparkly, looks really stunning! X

I've just had the guy our from Mayfair Granite yesterday. He was absolutely superb (and I am hard to impress). He really thought of everything, and even stood up for us with our builder wanting to cut corners. I will report back when the actual worktops are here, but couldn't be more pleased with them at the moment. They get amazing reviews online too.

Assuming the Northern half of Surrey or even if not, try Croydon Granite. They matched any other quote and did a wonderful job of fitting our granite, and even said 'it would look better with an extra upstand on that side there, we'll come back after Christmas next time we have an offcut, no charge".

Went with them rather than another firm as they were just more with it to talk to. A year on we are still delighted.

Whisky, how did Mayfair Granite's price stack up? I was looking into them but currently working in Mayfair anything with Mayfair in the title puts me off due to $$$$!

humpty - Initially, I thought I was going to go for a kind of quartz that Ikea sell. It's the exact same product - Silestone Marengp. Mayfair were cheaper than Ikea by a long way, something like £1k. They were also cheaper than the initail quote I got from Paramount stone. (All for the same product)

When I got their price through, I rang Paramount and explained, and they discounted theirs. Then I rang Mayfair back and explained that Paramount were undercutting them, and they discounted again.

However, now it's come to it I've actually changed my mind and gone for a lighter coloured quartz! But at least this gives you a sense of how they compare.

It's hard to explain what I'm getting. I have one run of worktops that's a straightforward 4 metres long. Then, on the other side of the kitchen, I have tall units, with an inset for a hob and worktop that is 180cm long - a bit like a smaller version of this picture. I'm having quartz on the worktop for this, but also on the 60cm splashback up to the wall units, and also on the sides. So it's like a quartz box, if that makes sense. So basically I have

  • A 4 metre worktop with a 30cm upstand in quartz along the whole length
  • A180 cm worktop
  • A 180cm x 60cm splashback
  • 2 60cm deep x 60cm high side pieces

This came to £2.5k.

Hi Whiskyowl,

We're looking at getting Quartz (Arabescato) from Mayfair Granite - they are a good price, but not the cheapest. They've told me that the other company that we're looking at are rubbish! How happy are you with your worktops a few months on? And was the installation good?

Thanks!
