Neighbours VS College

Hi all,
Would really welcome some input into a neighbourhood parking issue. Out residential streets have a pedestrian access to our local uni. Never been a major issue until this year when they reduced their parking massively. They declared an old "hockey pitch" which has essentially been a hard car park for 10+years to be a hockey pitch again. They've called off parking and are pre empting planning permission for new 4g pitches there instead as a revenue generator (stated goal to generate 50% plus non government funds in most recent plan). Neighbours have established under planning law they should have had 200+ parking spaces but only have 650 at present. Blocking off pitches has resulted in 30-50 weekly parkers in our street which provides pedestrian access to college. Residents are having a total nightmare with parking over drives, on corners etc but don't want double yellows or single yellows as that's a pretty poor solution for us as neighbours. Any planning experts might know angles for neighbours to take???

Residents parking permits might be a possibility? But there would lrobably be a charge for these.

Get people.to write to their councillor, or set up a meeting.

Privatize the road, if you can afford it

Residents parking not available as we have driveways for one car, it's just totally changed the tone of the area from family streets to parking zone. They park all week long. Privatization not an option.

Is there a minimum spaces required for a campus? For pitches? For expansion? They seemed to have closed their parking and relocated it to our streets while they try to expand. Any history of similar experiences?

Local representatives are writing to them but at present college is ignoring. Trying to head it off at the pass rather than retrospectively.

I have a similar problem. We take photos of the ones who park dangerously and send them to the PCSO. Every so often they come along and book people and it gets better for a bit.

We now have double yellows but they get ignored.
