So have just been woken to a loud dripping sound coming through ceiling in our bedroom. We live in a chalet bungalow so effectively there is no loft space we can get to. So am baffled because it hasn't been raining and pretty sure there's no pipes there. It's stopped dropping now but by question is what is it likely to be?? There is a settlement crack in ceiling and so this is where water managed to get in. Do we call a roofer or plumber. If plumber can see how he would get into space above ceiling. So confused and working tomorrow and could do with some sleep 😴

Could a pipe have burst from freezing?

Not sure why as have always had heating on. The bizarre thing is that it didn't dril for long? No idea who to call out. Not sure why would have a pipe above the ceiling and can't get to it as in the roof anyway.

Cold water tank? I'd look up checkatrader and check out a local roofer - find someone recommended and call them and explain problem first. I had similar issue - I panicked - and it was the guttering. Builder (specialising in guttering) came over and sorted it. Good luck. Last bleddy thing you need on a Monday x

Haven't got a cold water tank as have combi boiler. Maybe guttering. Father in law be round so hoping he may have some ideas. Think will start with roofer as can't see it being any pipes. Fingers crossed not a big job as have no money after spending a fortune doing the downstairs of house and we go away on Friday 🙏
