super commute

I attend uni in edinburgh, I am from w yorks.
for six weeks after xmas i am on a reduced timetable and would only need to be up here tues-thurs.
meaning I could go home friday morning and come back up tuesday morning.
I miss my family and my hometown and could have my old job back working friday/saturday.
My family would fully support it.
However, it is still a 3 hour train twice a week for six weeks(can drive, no car though).
If booking advance (got a railcard) I can get reasonable tickets, and wouldn't have to spend £50 on a bus pass.
Is this a terrible idea? I've struggled with my health up here and think being at home would help me to do better with my uni work.

I'd do it. Not quite the same but I regularly work away, travel 5 hours Sunday eve and same again on Friday.

So 6h on the train per week? That’s very little. Most people I know (around London) spend much more time commuting. So sounds like a no brainer to me.

Do it! A 3 hour commute twice a week is nothing, and you should be able to get loads of work done on the train if you get a table seat!

Would you save money on accommodation costs as well? Or are you still having to pay? The good news is you have options. 3 hr commute twice a week sounds manageable and you could work on train.
Will you miss out on Uni life though? There might be last minute changes to schedules too.
