Would it be OK to ask for a month between exchange and completing?

We're selling and leaving the UK and dh needs to give one month's notice.

Yes of course you can ask for that as a condition of exchange not unusual as such.

Who cares what is considered? Once exchange is done the deal is secure. A month also gives everyone time to organise the stuff that can't be set up before exchange.

Will still be a rush for you so look into plan b.

We did- actually we asked for 6 weeks expecting to negotiate down to 4- but they negotiated us up to 9!! Which was great for us.

For my sake we agreed a week as the house was empty and they were FTB living with their parents as a stop gap so quick suited everyone.

I wanted a month on my purchase and we agreed 3 weeks in the end. A month is typical I think?
