Fitted wardrobe companies - high pressure sales?

I've just had a call from Hammonds, who I spoke to in Next a while ago, to make an appointment. She said it would take 2 hours. That seems crazy for wardrobes, doesn't it? I have dark memories of the day we couldn't get the Anglian windows salesman out of the house for 3 hours. Am I going to get that kind of sales treatment from these big fitted furniture outfits?

We bought some a couple of years ago and I felt very pressurised b y the main names. We went with a local long established company who did them very differently and didn’t have the stupid sales (50% plus another 25% plus 10% if you sign up now when the bottom line is same as independents).

We had such a quality product and a lovely stress free experience. They still look stunning.

Thanks, that's helpful. I don't need a lot of design input - we have already created a built in space as part of a building project, but it needs fitting out and some doors made to measure, but I definitely don't need the whole room designed for me.

We had Anglian round a while back and couldn’t get rid of them! In the end I made up a quote we’d had that I knew they couldn’t beat. That got rid of them

Go with a local company. Places like Hammonds or Sharpes are ridiculously overpriced and the products aren’t great.

You can get same units as Hammonds from their parent company Hepplewhite. Look on their website for an independant showroom local to you. Probably get better service with the pushy hard sell
