Advice on reconfiguring 2 bathrooms into one - L shaped

I’m looking for ideas on how to reconfigure our bathroom as we can’t get our heads around it.
We have a family bathroom with a big bath in the middle of the room and a toilet and a sink. Next to it forming an L shape is an en suite that’s only accessible from our bedroom it has a small shower a sink and a toilet. Although we like having an en suite, we don’t need two bathrooms as there’s just the two of us with occasional guests but if we open up the two rooms into one do we keep the access from our room as well as access from the landing - tricky when we’ve got people staying - do we have only one door to it from the landing etc We don’t want to keep the bath and we want some decent storage too. Any ideas?

Just have the one door if it's also used by guests - or have a lock on both doors if you prefer to have it as an en-suite.

Are you getting rid of the bath completely and just having a shower?

Yes flyingpig it’s far too big and we prefer to have showers

Are you sure you want to get rid of 2 bathrooms and also lose a bath? This may affect the value of your home.

Also if you are planning on selling at any point I wouldn't recommend getting rid of the bath

How many bedrooms has the house got? If three (or more), don't convert it into one big bathroom. If it is only two, you can probably get away with it.

I hate Jack and Jill type bathrooms with access from two doors, so I would say to get rid of the access from your bedroom, if you go ahead. If you really want to keep that access, make it lockable from both sides.

From a resale perspective, even if you don't like baths, I would keep one. Just make it a smaller one and put it on a side instead of the middle. Should then have enough space for a large shower cubicle.

I think most people would rather have 2 bathrooms, and a bath- but it's your house so you must do what suits you!

Scrubby why do we want to do this? We moved into this house 8 months ago and are currently getting a single story extension to open up the kitchen and dining area and we’re trying to sort out the upstairs rooms to make them work better for us and that includes a bathroom that we don’t really use and an en suite that’s a bit jaded and faded

Take out the end suite and convert to a walk on wardrobe. Make the family bathroom into a luxurious shower room. If it is big enough keep a bath and have a shower too. The room looks the same proportions as our en suite and we have both a bath and a large walk in shower.

Yes, sorry OP, I just meant what are you trying to achieve? I don't want to assume because I would be trying to achieve a lovely big bath and an en suite, so need more guidance to suggest something!

Walk in wardrobe sounds rather nice. Are there any windows?

Scrubby no problem - I get what you’re saying.* I think a comfortable bathroom with a good quality feel to it. Plus plenty of storage for potions, lotions, medicines and cleaning stuff. I’m not sure about a wet room with a shower, definitely a shower and not at all bothered about having a bath. A heated towel rail too.* A walk in wardrobe would be a good use of the space and there is a window

Our bathroom is a similar shape; we have the bath - 90cm wide so nice to shower in too-in the bottom of the L, bath taps in the middle and shower on the wall at the end roughly where yours is. Toilet beside it, then big unit at the end with washing machine and tumble dryer built under, sink on top and lots of storage in side cupboards. We could easily have had a separate shower there instead.

We had a similar dilemma of two small bathrooms or one big but we also had floor level issues that wiped out the en suite option.

If it's a large room then it's going to look very empty without a bath. You could have a really lovely free standing one.
