Boiler Servicing

Hi all,

Looking for a bit of help from the hive mind!

My partner and I are moving house soon, and we can't sell our old place, so we have to rent it out. I need to get the boiler serviced and a Gas Safety Certificate.

What are the best websites you've found to find local plumbers or tradespeople? I've had issues in the past with getting ripped off, so I'd like to compare some prices before I go with anyone.

Thanks in advance!

Lou

If you've got a local spotted fb page I'd ask for local recommendations there or neighbours recommendations

Your local council should have a list of ‘trusted traders’ or similar. Start there and then ask about on local pages for reviews

We get a magazine called Go Local every month, do you have something similar? We also speak to neighbours about contractors they use.

Go on the Gas Safe Register and you can find someone who is Gas Safe registered in your area.

You cannot get just a plumber to service a boiler and/or issue a Gas Safety Certificate

as mentioned, start with the gas safe register. The difficult bit is actually finding someone who will a) answer the phone and b) turn up to an appointment.

Although important this is one of your simpler issues, with a big pile of other checks, documentation, insurances and set up to do.

Thanks everyone!

I couldn't get an answer when I used that gas safety register.

Had a bit of a google and found a comparison site called Hamuch that had all the prices on. Got the plumber coming next week!

Hooray!

I'm confused. Is this plumber gas safe registered?

mydogisthebest · 07/10/2017 07:50

Just make sure the plumber is gas safe registered. My husband, who is registered, has been to a couple of houses where an unregistered plumber has supposedly checked the boiler and in one house the boiler was dangerous.

Hi,

Yeah he is. I asked on the phone when I contacted because it had been mentioned on here. Made sure I checked.
