Does anyone know what this is? (Electrics / boiler)

Boring post I know but does anyone know what this is (photo attached)?

It's alongside my boiler but I don't think it's the boiler switch as we have one of those further along. It doesn't have any lights on - should it?

We had someone out to look at our boiler recently which is all working fine but I've just noticed this and curiousity is getting the better of me! Thanks.

no

it looks to have been in place for along time as the cables have been painted over. Might no longer be in use. Where does the mini-trunking go (both directions)?

there's a chance it is a wireless receiver for a wireless room stat. Do the lamps ever come on?

show us your room stat.

How strange.. ! I'm upstairs away from the room stat at the moment but I've googled the one we have and have attached an image (yes I'm that lazy!)

Our boiler (and the funny little box) are in our downstairs toilet - we had the boiler relocated there when we did an extension about 7 years ago. The room stat is on the wall on the hallway outside. If it's a wireless box for the room stat I'm not sure if it's working or not as I tend to just switch on the heating by manually turning up the temp on the room stat until it switches on so we will see as the weather gets colder if it's that.

It's really weird. I've never seen a little box like it.

We have one of these. It's to control the underfloor heating in our porch. The new versions look much more flashy but I quite like this older less obvious one. 😀

Maybe that's why I haven't noticed it before.. it blends in well!

Been googling and it seems the green light should only come on if it's "talking" to the other unit - and as we haven't had the heating on I'm guessing it hasn't needed to make contact. So I'm hoping it's fine!
