My house builder is quite simply the sweetest most adorable guy ever. I complete on Monday and he's given me 2 of his guys to do whatever I want to make it mine for 2 days.

So far, I have a list:

Fit loft ladder
Fit bathroom accessories
Garden hose on the wall
Fit a postbox
Fit blinds and curtain poles
Fit tv brackets
Fit coat hooks rail
Install whirly washing line

Am I forgetting anything??

Fitted wardrobes
Bookshelves
Floor to ceiling cupboard for vacuum cleaner and broom then another for iron and ironing board

Towel rails
Thingys for shampoo and shower gel but guess that is on your list

Mirrors

Thingys in kitchen for kitchen roll if needs to be drilled into tiles (which I am nervous of myself)

Security lights and maybe cctv outside

Thank you all - we have had a lot of control over what's gone into the house having had constant contact with our builders and team, purchasing it when it was first fix. So a lot of what's been suggested was worked in already.

Bookshelves and somewhere to hide the ironing board is a fab idea that I hadn't thought of. It's also reminded me to see if I can get some storage into the airing cupboard.

I think the roof is boarded but will check

He's genuinely one of the best tradespeople I've ever worked with! If he's within a sensible distance of you I can't rate him highly enough

I met my Hot Builder about four and a bit years ago.

He still bevels my edges.

Which area are you in, OP?

And he would say, get them to do what you could never do - the really difficult stuff in other words.

Reserve what you might like to do later, and/or have a go at yourselves.

Putting up hooks etc in shed/garage
Toilet roll holders
Towel holders (both require fiddling with the world's tiddliest most annoying allen keys ever)
Clean windows (plaster and other gunk, ours had to be scraped off with special tools)
Put up blinds/curtain rails/shelves
