Decking treatment?

We had a deck out in,finished in may. What should I do to treat it before winter?

(No comments about how much you hate decks please! I know they're not right everywhere but was a good solution for what we needed)

you can get decking stain in any DIY shed. Have a look round for special offers. It is more durable than fence stain. You can apply it with a large brush or a small broom, or get special pads. I like a brush. Big brands are usually better than cheap budget cans.

Simple light or mid browns will not jar as much as colours, and are easier to re-treat in a few years.

You will need a lot of stirring, look for a stirrer that fits in an electric drill

Plastic tubs reseal tightly for future usage. Metal tins don't.

Start with 5 litres and write yourself a note for how much you used, for next time

When we had a new deck, we used a specialist non slip coating that also sealed the wood. Recommend by someone who constructed decks. I'm sorry I can't remember the name, but it was sold through builders merchants and was about £20 per 5 L.
We applied it with a roller.
I will google to see if I can find it and be back.😊

Blackfriars anti slip coating £25. For 5L. It lasted a couple of years, then we powerwashed the deck and reapplied.

You're not supposed to do anything to it until it's been down a year
