Any advice on the etiquette re viewing after offer is accepted & sale is progressing

We had an offer accepted two weeks ago.

No chain either side so hoping to progress fairly quickly - on our side the mortgage order is formally agreed subject to bank valuation (which is booked for about 10 days time), solicitors have been instructed & surveyor engaged (survey should be next week hopefully).

I'd really like another viewing, to get a feel for room sizes for furniture, window sizes for curtains etc, and also because my eldest step daughter was away when we first viewed so she hasn't seen it yet.

Should I wait until after surveys, valuation etc has all been put to bed & we've had sight of which f&f they are leaving/taking before asking to go round, and actually is it bad form to ask to go again at all really?!

It's been a long time since I bought a house!

Thanks in advance Smile

Wait until at least after surveyor's had a look - they may raise an issue you want to check out yourself.

Fab thanks, yes I guess it makes sense to wait for the surveys etc to come back, I'm glad it's normal to ask to do so after that though Smile

After surveyor's report, I went and measured up for curtains! It's perfectly okay to ask to do that sort of thing.

I agree with pps - a ten day wait for rte valuation survey is a long one. When is your own survey being carried out?

Offer was accepted the Saturday & confirmed in writing a week ago last Monday. We got confirmed mortgage offer subject to valuation Tues just gone so took a week which seemed fair?

We got a message on Thursday from the bank to say valuation booked for 10th July - I did think that was a long wait but it's with Barclays so i figured they would know what they're doing!

HBS should be next week, unless the the ea wants the surveyor to go at the same time as the bank?

Oh & our solicitors online tracker hasn't budged from 'waiting for sellers contracts' is it normal they wouldn't even start to do searches etc before receiving that?

The sellers would wait until they knew you had the survey reports before proceeding with issuing the contract. Plus the sellers have to complete the Law Society forms.

Thanks wowfudge should I be chasing my solicitors to do searches then? It looks like that's on their list after they get the contracts not before...

Solicitors don't do searches before they receive the contract. They like to see the paperwork first to check that the searches are ordered on the correct property title.

Perfect thanks spickle

I'll sit on my hands until valuation & survey is done Grin

I just spoke to the banks surveyor team, apparently they were trying to get through to the vendor for 2 days and by the time they did on Friday, the appts for this week had all been filled, hence the valuation being pushed back to next Monday.

She did say the valuation will go to the bank the same day though.

I'm just relieved the delay isn't on our side, as it was the vendors who were keen on a super quick process - they've turned down higher offers than ours because the buyers had property to sell & they didn't want the delay of a chain...
