Okay so the kitchen in Casa Fudge is nearly bloody finished. We need bar stools for the breakfast bar. We have both agreed we like these (a miracle in itself) but need to choose a colour.

The floor will be a mid, rich oak LVT, we have DIY Kitchens painted alabaster units, a mix of oak worktops and Tristone in Gold Twilight, Dulux Willow Tree walls and a black range cooker in the part of the kitchen where the island is.

Please vote now!

I think I like the grey or the yellow.
Do you mind if I ask how much your tristone was? Is it cheaper than quartz or the same sort of price?

I think that's already quite a few different colours going on and they're high backed (so won't slot under the breakfast bar when not in use so will be on display & the colour needs to tie in). I'd go with black to tie in with the range, or possibly cream to match the units. I think a new colour might look too much!

Thank you for those responses so far. Everything is quite restrained in there to be fair and there is a patio area visible through gable end windows with a hedge backing it.

The Tristone is costing us £1800 for a large, shaped island top with sink cut out, rounded corners, etc. Quotes for the same in a mid price Corian were £2500. We had a couple of other astronomical quotes for the Tristone and one very similar to the one we're going with.

Go for grey or cream, you've already got lots going on.

I don't think yellow will work at all with the willow tree walls, or red or blue or green.

YorkshireTea86 · 28/06/2017 20:58

Thanks wow looks like it will be still out of budget then. Never mind.

Buckinghambae · 28/06/2017 21:07

Ooh love those! I would go cream

wowfudge · 28/06/2017 22:17

Thank you. I was saying cream and DP the yellow or blue. Clearly he cannot be let loose to choose on his own. I think the purple could work if he is insistent on a colour rather than a neutral.

I vote a neutral as well.

SwedishEdith · 28/06/2017 22:22

I think a green could work but not that shade.

SomeOtherFuckers · 28/06/2017 22:47

Grey or yellow

SomeOtherFuckers · 28/06/2017 22:47

Or blue x

wowfudge · 28/06/2017 23:31

SomeOther I suspect you may have colluded with the interior décor free zone that is my DP Grin

I find it difficult to visualise colours so I would get an ordinary dining chair and place it in position with a shirt (jumper, towel, t-shirt) in the relevant colour choice.

Leave in place for 10 minutes or so walking in and out of the room. This should give you more of an idea which solid block of colour you like best.

Tatlerer · 29/06/2017 13:50

wowfudge you are my hero, I'm going to save those breakfast stools down! I love the suggestion below re draping something of a similar colour over a chair and leaving it there- great idea.

wowfudge · 29/06/2017 15:17

@Tatlerer - Can I have a medal please? Last night I painted two doors, the surrounds and an archway after work because the flooring guy is coming on Monday and they need doing. This weekend I shall mostly be filling round sockets and touch up painting.

Those stools are nice aren't they? I've been looking for something oak and a bit different which doesn't cost a fortune for months. Need to persuade DP to part with his Spanish hacienda style dining furniture next.... and win the lottery Grin

I think I would go for the blue or yellow for an accent colour or the cream if you are leaning towards neutral.... so Three options - not helpful! Sorry!

Tatlerer · 29/06/2017 19:57

wowfudge I can't find any medals, but for that valiant effort, you can have StarWine and Cake

wowfudge · 29/06/2017 22:59

Thank you!

I have those chairs in white and I'm still pleased with my purchase - comfortable too!

wowfudge · 30/06/2017 07:35

Good to know - thank you Right here.

I'd vote cream & will be looking for stools soon so good to know. I had thought swivel stools would be better but seeing these I'm not sure why I was thinking that!
