Terraced house layout how to make changes?

So we have a typical terraced though it is slightly larger than most having been extended at the back.... 2 reception rooms which are open, a door through to the kitchen/breakfast room with kitchen in a u shape at the back.
Kitchen desperately needs updating burnt to the ground but what to do?
We've looked into a side return extension but feel it's too much work, and too much expense

The kitchen/breakfast room is 22ft long and about 9ft wide but the kitchen is slightly narrow only by a foot I think because it's an extension...

Any suggestions? I'm thinking swapping the kitchen and breakfast room but the builder we saw didn't think it would be good as it'd create a narrow kitchen...or my new idea would be to put a kitchen in back reception room and make the back a dining/play room? Has anyone done something similar or something I've not thought of?

I will draw a plan later today if need be! Thanks in advance!

If the two reception rooms have been knocked through to create one room, why not reinstate the wall between them to give you a separate living room. Then at the back have a kitchen diner and use the current kitchen to make either a small playroom or a utility room. Or maybe have a utility room with toy storage?

Definitely thinking of reinstating the wall to create a proper lounge....interesting idea about the utility room, hadn't thought of that! Thanks x
