Estate agent fees

Our house is currently on the market with a sole agency fee of 1%. We are about to go joint agency with another EA. The one we are with are happy to stay at 1% but the other wants 1.25% , negotiated down from 1.5%. These all have VAT payable on top. What are you guys paying for joint agency?

0.75% sole, 1% joint.

Personally I don't see the point on joint agency- don't most people use rightmove/zooplankton type sites? Only advantage I see is if you are selling and buy through the same agent, thus making them work harder?

I'm new to this board and am currently in the process of moving having been in my current home for 10 years. I may/probably be out of touch 😳

London border- home county!

Likewise we are home county and haven't nicer for 10 years. Apparently not everyone uses Rightmove. Or so the agents tell us. I find that hard to believe though. The difference in fees equates to nearly £2k which is such a lot of money.

I think that's bollocks. I think everyone will use rightmove followed by Zoopla and then local portals.

I don't see the point in joint agency.

When we were looking (in London) last year, most of the flats we saw didn't have time to get into rightmove. We relied a lot on agents contacting us about places.
