Where can I get bath/shower room fittings that aren't silver coloured?

We're getting a new shower room and bathroom, but everywhere I've looked only seems to stock silver coloured taps, handles etc. I know I can get old brass taps on eBay and happy to do this, but what about shower enclosures? All the ones I've seen have silver bits on!

Anyone know where I can buy non-silver-coloured fittings?!

Not many people buy them more than once, though, because nothing is as durable and easy to keep clean as chrome.

If you look at the instructions for brass, nickel and gold plate, you will see it advises against chemicals and suggests a damp cloth. Good luck with that. If you have a water softener it will reduce limescale.

They are often lacquered, but cream cleaners will wear the lacquer off. Plain brass is OK as long as you have a housemaid to polish it twice a day.

When we bought our house it had brass coloured bathroom fittings and ALL of them were heavily and irretrievably tarnished and disgusting. Be careful to buy quality ones and follow cleaning instructions to the letter if you really must have them. I never ever would!!!

@pigletjohn when you say places that sell bathroom fittings, do you have any names? The places I've tried just have chrome etc. Not saying I'm going to ignore yours and emsys comments, I just want to have a look to see if I love them enough to make it worth hiring a housemaid 😂

I confess I have not looked for them recently.

I just looked for Barking Brassware and it seems Grohe are operating from their old address. Plumbworld shifted downmarket and don't seem to have any now.

HOOK G Bristan have some accessories. Price looks high but they are a good maker. Ask for their catalogue.

We had a house with gold taps in the 1980s along with a dark sage coloured bathroom.

We moved out before they needed replacing, but the plugholes did not wear well, and for some reason it looks worse when that happens than it does with the chrome ones......
