Moving house - white goods and lawn mower help!

Any advice please? We will need a new stand alone dishwasher, washing machine and condenser dryer for ASAP from Thursday, fingers crossed! We will also need a lawn mower for the overgrown lawn as we're moving from an urban, paved jobbie. Clearly we could spend an absolute fortune on the above but is it really worth it? Are any cheaper options just as good even if they don't last as long? I've been looking for so long and at so many options that I'm going slightly ga-ga!

Can you narrow down which models of each you want then search online for the best prices? Or is there anywhere locally where you could try to get a deal for buying the three appliances at the same time and look for the most energy efficient within your budget?

There's too much choice these days - I have bought a new cooker and cooker hood recently and need to get a dishwasher, but it has taken me ages to decide what to get.

I used appliances online for my white goods. They have next day delivery, are really good value and were really helpful.
Have a look on there .
As to lawnmowers, mine is a petrol one and was £50 on gumtree .

You could get your lawn mowed by a gardener the first time if it is a bit on the wild side. Then it will be more manageable in the future.

Can't help with models (I can't tell the difference so going with ones I think look pretty) but if you can wait until this weekend then do- loads of sales will be on over Easter.

I second pp about gumtree. Lots of cheap second hand goods until you can do research and get what you really wants.

Gumtree and eBay. Although a £200 new washing machine is fine . a dishwasher and dryer are not urgent.

I used AO for appliances on line - usually good prices and quick delivery . They will also fit for you - but it can be a lot cheaper to get an independent handyman type who can install all of them in one go. I was gutted to pay £50 for remove existing washing machine and install new one and it took all of 10 mins!

I stick to mid-size brands such as Bosch. I'd rather pay a bit more but have something clean, new, reliable and that will last for years.

If you have a garden, you probably don't even need a dryer, or at least not urgently.

It's worth checking the "which" website to look at their reviews. It only cost a pound or so to join the first month.

Sorry to post and leave, it's been crazy here and illness has struck :( Anyhoo, we're in although still awaiting the vans. I've bought an indesit washing machine that was on a good offer from John Lewis which ought to arrive on Tuesday. DH has had a triumph on eBay and bought us a dishwasher for £9.99 so goodness only knows what will happen there. I think you can see our buying types quite clearly from the above! I've accessed the Which? website and will use it to look for a drier.

I ended up buying an half price lawn mower and trimmer set at Argos this morning just to attempt to get on top of the garden. A full day of waiting for vans and we've mown the lawn twice, getting it down to a fair-ish length. The lawnmower is tiny! It s quite irritating as we had much better (but older) versions of all this stuff that we'd acquired over time but we gave it away when we moved into town. Never mind, I ought to just enjoy the peace before the removals men arrive!
