Flooring decisions

Hello again everyone,

Having already consulted Mumsnet in the past week regarding door issues, I am now seeking your welcome advice on flooring!

We have an open plan kitchen diner living room space approx. 45m squared. Floor plan is attached (please no remarks on layout of house as that is not possible to change!).

In our kitchen the units are white gloss and we're going for white granite worktops.

We have two border collie dogs and are hoping to start a family in the next year or so, so we feel carpet may not be the best choice.

We had a look around Carpet Right and Frank's Factory Flooring this evening and quite like the look of luxury vinyl tiles (LVT). Have people any experience of Quick-Step or Tegola?

Any what's the latest thoughts on this Kardean I keep hearing about?

Do we have the same flooring running from the entrance to living room, flowing all the way around the corner into kitchen? Or, do we separate rooms with different types of flooring?

Just been watching the 'House that 100k built' and feeling envious of their house haha!

I haven't really got any useful advice but am interested in this as we are about to order flooring for our kitchen/diner. Have decided on LVT for durability and practically reasons. For this room we want stone effect rather than wood effect and this limits the choice a bit. We also need to have click fit rather than adhesive fit and want bevelled edges so it looks like a real tile rather than a totally smooth finish. So, all that considered I think we've decided on quickstep livyn ambient click! Just need to get online and order it now. By the way lots of people rave about Karndean on here, they just didn't do what we were looking for. I'm sure someone will be along soon with more useful advice based on actual experience!

We'd also prefer the click fit to the adhesive. Downside to LVT is the cost of fitting... think it's about £15-18 per square metre just to fit

We've been quoted £12/sq.m but it still adds a lot to the cost

Are you having underfloor heating? Just asking because it affects your flooring choice. Were having UFH in our extension and thinking of having tiles in the kitchen area, but not sure whether to have engineered wood for the other areas. (I'm addicted to the house that 100k built - I think Piers is a genius!)

Whatever flooring you go for I'd highly recommend doing the whole area the same as it'll look larger and flow better plus give you more freedom regarding where one rooms ends and the next starts. Rugs etc can add coziness and define spaces if you like.

Mini we won't be having underfloor heating. Defo think we're going to go for LVT. Fitting is actually £10 sq m not £15 as previously thought

We have karndean paleo click. I love it. Quick to fit, looks great and very easy to care for.
