Hope clean would you leave your house when moving if it's having building work done?

I was planning on blitzing the house from top to bottom, but found out our vendors are extending and putting in a new kitchen before moving in.
It's going to create a lot of mess isn't it? I'm pretty certain they'll just rip the kitchen out,but do I clean the oven etc anyway?

Unfortunately pride would make me scrub the house from top to bottom. Probably because the lady we bought from hadn't cleaned in the last few months of owning the house and it was rank coming in. Seems pointless when there is away to be building work but I couldn't leave our mess.

Why not ask them?

I had tenants move out of my house ahead of me doing work before moving in. They asked if they need to steam clean the carpets and bring in a company to clean the oven. I said, a good hoover and a relatively clean oven would be fine. As long as there is no ick factor.

That's what they did and was fine.

Yes, ask them. Make sure that it's all generally clean and stocked with loo roll if there are going to be builders in, but I wouldn't worry about dusting the skirting boards.

Do you think it affects the whole house if the extension is one storey?

Well I hoovered before the builders arrived. Day one, they knocked the roof in. So pretty pointless really.

Definitely worth asking them as building projects can get delayed. We'd planned to start major works within weeks of moving in to our house but due to one thing and another we haven't started yet and we've been here nearly a year! The previous owners left the place spotless and I'm still very very grateful.
