Ikea sofa assembly - help

I need to assemble an Ikea Soderhamn sofa and chaise longue. They will attach together to create a sofa with a chaise longue on one side.

I've started with the chaise longue. The first instruction implies that one should rotate a bracing bar under the seat but gives no indication of how on earth one might do this. The bar looks immovable. Can anyone help? You Tube seems unable to help.

DP did it over the weekend and he said you just have to pull it hard enough. He said he thought the same and took a leap of faith and yanked it. Hope you managed it okay.
