Glazing company terms and conditions - normal?

Hi, we are getting sliding doors put in, have finalised the order, but have just been sent the terms and conditions. We need to pay a deposit now, fair enough, but then the full balance is due 7 days before installation. I'm worried that it gives us no comeback room if the product isn't right or installation not done properly.

Is this typical? And do you think we have any chance of negotiating an amount to be paid after the installation?

I work for a window manufacturer/installer and no, we would not ask for all of it up front Confused we ask for 50% deposit and 50% on completion once the owner has inspected the work and is happy with it.

A lot of companies don't even ask for a deposit just full payment on completion.

Who is the firm? Have they got decent reputation/reviews? TBH I'd be wary of paying in full before the work starts. You've no comeback if it goes wrong.

Thank you! It's a Reynaers supplier - positive online reviews but not lots, and we don't know anyone directly who have used them as they aren't local. We were going with them because we like the product and they'd been helpful and knowledgable on the phone, and Reynaers give a 10 year guarantee, but the t&c's seem harsh. There's another supplier of the same system that we talked to, so we could ask them about their payment terms as a comparison.

Yes - if you're happy and settled on the system you want then I'd look at other fabricator/installers who also do the Reynaers products and explain you're not happy with the payment terms this first company have offered and can they do better. They'll want your business Smile

We're about to have most of our windows replaced.
1/3 as a deposit, 1/3 at start of job and final 1/3 on completion and when we're happy with the work.

We paid 10% up front and the rest in completion. Local independent firm
