Just wondered whether I was missing something!! Why do some bath screens only open outwards?? Is there any advantage to this?

If it's a single door and a standard size cubicle then you wouldn't be able to close the door once you'd got in surely?

Bi-fold ones tend to fold inwards but are a bugger to clean as you have to get in the shower and close the door in order to clean it IYSWIM.

Actually disregard this as I see you said bath screens - I was thinking of shower doors.

there is seldom room to hinge it inward, because the taps, shower mixer or shower head would be in the way.

But bath screens often hinge on a pintle, so I would have thought you could fit it to fold in if you wanted.

I think the mechanism is simpler and easier to seal.

We had one that only moved inwards in our flat. Then we bought a house and it only moved outwards and had plastic hinge pins top and bottom.
Suffice to say we found that safety glass won't turn into jagged shards, but it tries to cause death by a thousand cuts....

Since then we have one that goes both ways, but it's basically impossible to seal the hinge perfectly.
