We have an appointment with the HSBC mortgage broker (next step in our mortgage application) just wondering what this entails? How does the mortgage in prinicipal relate to starting this process? Will we have to answer all those
Questions again? lThank you

I couldn't tell you, but we got our mortgage through HSBC online. Getting the agreement in principle was very straightforward. The actual application required us both to answer a stack of questions, provide details of financial outgoings, etc. Have they told you how long the appointment will take?

The appointment will take 120 minutes (according to the e-mail). We did the mortgage in principle on the phone. Answered a load of questions. Now we have appt with the broker x

They have good rates but very strict criteria, need a squeaky clean credit history, and don't go to the highest income multiples. If they don't offer you as much as you need go to a broker.

I did this with HSBC last week.
He asked all the household budget questions that they had asked in the AIP telephone appointment. (Expected buildings and contents insurance, travel costs, childcare costs, car related costs, holidays etc etc). Then he quizzed me on our income. He then hung up to run a credit check and phoned back 20 minutes later to take the details of the estate agent and solicitor. It took about 90 minutes in total.
Good luck.

Thanks sounds pretty starightforward. So when they run the credit check and get back to you requesting details, you pretty much have been accepted for the mortgage?

Before the formal mortgage offer there’s usually the final check by the underwriters; and then the valuation of the property to check it is priced correctly and suitable for mortgage purposes. All that can happen quickly though, ours was formally offered in under 2 weeks from having an offer accepted. Can I ask if you’ve gone direct to HSBC yourself or used a ‘Whole of Market’ broker to get to this point?

We went direct
