I've just bought a new fridge and realised the old one which doesn't work is hard wired into a box on the wall, below the counter. It has an isolation switch above the counter so it can be switched off and left off. I'm going to get an electrician in to change it to a socket to make life easier in the future, but in the meantime can I just undo the wires so it is no longer connected and put the cover back on? Obviously it is switched off at the isolation point. I'm just nervous of leaving it without anything wired back in place. I have a voltage checker device so I can make doubly sure it is switched off before I do remove it- I'm no electrician but am fairly competent at changing sockets and light fittings etc so not a total novice!
Hope I've explained that properly, many thanks.
