Mermaid board

Had a leak, bathroom needs putting right asap (baby due next week!). Wondering if mermaid board is as hassle free as it first appears. Would be used in the shower cubicle, above the bath and possibly a splash back above the hand basin. Has anyone else used for similar and can give feedback? Thanks in advance.
Ps - not sure if mermaid board is the brand rather than the product IFSWIM, happy with a generic brand.

We have been looking at these for the children's bathroom. The thing that doesn't sit well with me is the fact that it is laminated and the core is a wood product. It relies on the sealant between the bath/shower tray to stop water penetration and your receipt has to show the correct number of tubes of sealant for any sort of warranty claim.

The only board with a completely waterproof core (can't remember the name) demonstrates this waterproof quality by submerging the board in water but it is far more expensive than the Mermaid boards. There are plastic sheet alternatives and you can always go down the acrylic route.

this will give you an idea of the range of panels you can get. We were going to a commercial supplier as we can get them through my friend's company.

I have IPIL boards in both of my bathrooms and have not had any problems. No experience of mermaid boards, though.
