How cheeky was your offer?

What was your cheekiest offer under asking (%) and was it accepted?

Someone told me about a house the other day that was on at £600k and the owner asked a guy (builder) if he wanted to buy it.. The builder said "it's not worth that I'll give you £400k" and they accepted ShockShock
that's nearly 34% under!

offer what you like - each sellers circumstances are different.

But if you hope to get a really good deal, you need to be a really good buyer which realistically means a cash buyer or a first time buyer.

£110,000 down to £100,000, excepted straight away, been on for a while, everything needed doing. I wasn't really trying to barter, that's all I could afford.

Ps I thought £110,000 was fair but couldn't manage it.

We offered 260k on a house that was on at offers over £300k. It was turned down, but they accepted £265k. It would have been worth £300k if it had been less filthy/smoky/doggy, although we couldn't have afforded it.

Offered £180k, asking price 205, settled on 190.

DH did the negotiating. I was dying of shame - I paid asking price for the two before.

Someone I know of had an offer of £350k accepted on a house 'valued' at £480k.

No partcular situation, just that the seller wanted shot of it.
