Has anyone found any nice resin furniture? I'd like something that I can go and pick up in the next few days as bro is finishing my patio but am sick of wood!

Looking at ikea but not always clear what the stuff is made from so may go and look there but ideally after recommendations

I've seen a lot of non-wood garden furniture in Ikea actually. I work in the lawn and garden services field and during my work I've visited hundreds of gardens and I should say wood fits best and wooden furniture looks more natural amongst the greenery. However, they offer steel and polyester furniture too, like this set of chairs and table for example.

Thanks the gardener - I should say its probably my fault wood doesn't fit us, as I am rubbish at covering it in winter and have nowhere to store it inside, (I tried to stain my wooden furniture with Ronseal decking stain last year thinking it would make it more durable but its all peeling now and awful looking sad). However wood does look better - the pic you've put does look a bit cheap.

I was thinking of asking my bro who is a joiner to make a table and bench from the grey composite decking he is laying for us & then get a couple of comfier chairs from IKEA too. We're for doing raised from new sleepers at a height that can be used to sit on. What are your thoughts on this?

I think it is a good idea, as long as you protect the wood from weather conditions properly. Decking stain works fine, but you might also apply a water sealant for even better protection. Use specialised varnish for outdoor furniture too. Apply a few layers of it and your table/bench will look awesome all year long.

I have some resin chairs that I bought cheaply in B and Q sale a few years ago and they look good as new . I keep the cushions in the shed but leave the rest uncovered. My wooden table bought at the same time looks rubbish as I can't be doing with the maintenance .

Cheers-half the decking is down & I love it!

The composite doesn't need any maintenance thankfully but if we do make a wooden frame for bench/table we treat it with the darker grey Cuprinol that the fence posts are done in.

Hadn't thought about b&q just because our local one has closed, how silly is that?! Will have a look now but thinking of 2 of these at the mo if we like them IRL tomorrow.

I LOVE improving the garden area smile

We have IKEA Falster table and benches. This is the third year, never cover it, never needs anything doing to it, still looks v smart.

We also have the Falster grey table and chairs from Ikea. We bought them last year, didn't cover them and I just cleaned them with hot soapy water and it came up like new.

It is made of polystyrene and it is very robust.

we also have the table/bench/chairs above. very robust.
we had it for 4years or so, always outside and comes up great with just washing it with a cloth every now and then.
