Dry rot on a house sign? Worried I've made it spread indoors..

Strange question, I know!

Just removed an old house name sign that was drilled into the brick. It had been painted and got paint had cracked and it looked very weathered. When I took it off, there was white markings on the brick, which wiped off easily. The back of the sign had white dots over it.

Was this dry rot? I'm worried as I took the sign into the house and I know the spores can spread (it's an old house with timber floors).

Any views appreciated!

Dry rot manifests itself as a fern like growth, creeping along. The sporing fruit usually develop on the fronds.

This just sounds like a bit of damp mould that has developed behind the wood.

Thanks, I'm so worried about it!! The wood had all split, which made me more concerned about dry rot too
