Riding in the removal van

Have namechanged for this and am too embarrassed to ask our movers first!

We're moving in 3 weeks and have one car. Our destination is quite far & quite rural so would be easier if I go ahead with DCs whilst old house is packed and DH follows with van. Public transport isn't an option.

Do you think he'd be able to hitch a lift in the removal van (professionals - big firm) or is that not the done thing/not insured/no space. Has anyone ever done this?

I guess depends is they have room in the cab on the removal van, you won't know until you ask them.

When I asked my removal company they said they weren't insured to carry passengers

When I moved I went in the van with them. I asked them beforehand and they said it was fine.
