Aluminium Sliding Doors / Windows Suppliers

Hi all,

We've just started on a large rear extension project and have planned to have a 5m wide opening from the kitchen to the garden, plus three coordinating windows in the same anthracite colour.

Originally we were planning to get bifolds as we liked the idea of integral blinds (which Express offer) but have recently decided we'll probably go for sliding doors instead (3 large panels, 2 of which will slide) and do away with blinds. We preferred the aesthetic with less interruptions to the view (given that we're in the UK, they'll probably spend most of their time closed anyway!)

We've only really seen Express bi-folds and sliding doors in the flesh and felt very reassured by the quality, however having been quoted around £9k including the 3 windows and fitting (ouch!), I feel I need to ask advice and make sure I'm not missing a trick with an equally good quality product at a lower price point. There are so many suppliers so would really welcome advice based on personal experience, good or bad.

We're based in Bedfordshire and any recommendations for local showrooms would also be incredibly helpful.

Many thanks in advance
Tim

You sound exactly like us.

We've also gone for sliding over bifolds. We've opted for raynaers cp130 doors which are lift and slide doors so they literally glide. All 3 panels move 5m wide by 2.2m high. Ukbifolds supply them and they have a showroom in Reading.

£6500 Inc vat and fitting.

The comparable schucco system supplied by express was £9k.

Doors and windows play vital role in case of both residential and commercial properties. In fact they are the most necessary part of our home and office. Impact windows and doors pros are better and very beneficial to use. They are very tough an durable too.

Imperial, would you mind sharing details of your supplier? Google explodes with suggestions for UK Bifolds, so it would be great to know the one you used. With thanks.

We fitted Kloeber lift and slide doors with triple glazing. Very pleased with them and the after service.

We can leave the doors open a little bit to let fresh air in - something that wasn't going to be possible with folding doors but something that was important to us.

Like imperial. We have Raynaers CP130 sliders. They are gorgeous and just glide open.

Yes of course

UKbifold and their website is blue. Their registered office is 0L10 2TS but they have a showroom in Reading.

We did loads of homework and are so pleased with what we ended up with.

We went to the showroom to look at bifold and changed to sliders. We haven't regretted it.

I looked at some other ultra slim frame ones which were £15k. For the price we paid I think they are hard to beat

Thanks everyone. Will certainly check out Reynaers and Kloeber - great advice.
