I've fallen madly in love with this interior and want to use it on a much smaller scale in the downstairs loo - crisp white tiles or tongue and groove panelling, then this dark inky blue above with gilt-framed mirrors and picture frames.

What's the blue, though? F&B Stiffkey?

Looks like Browns in Manchester - in which case, someone in the Property dept at head office can probably give you the details. Much more likely to be trade paint than F&B.

I think the blueness is affected by the lighting. It has a window effect. Do you think there are strips of LEDs concealed in the edging?

It's Pennethorne's at Somerset House. I've found the company who did the interior design and will investigate further!

We are also going for a dark, inky blue in a sitting room and I have samples of F&B Stiffkey, Hague and Drawing Room on the wall in my quest for the perfect blue (along with others from other companies) and it's darker than any of them and more of a true blue - or at least so it appears from the photo. I'd be curious to know!

Little Greene Hicks Blue is a strong contender.

RunLillian Thu 16-Jun-16 15:08:57

It's an incredible design. These are some more pics.

PigletJohn I wondered if the picture frames were illuminated somehow but this detail pic suggests not. The brass shelf is lit in the image with the plaster mouldings, however.

I think Hague blue. We have it everywhere in our house and I LOVE it!

justaweeone Thu 16-Jun-16 15:19:30

I think it's looks more purple than blue
Similar to pelt by F&B

justaweeone Thu 16-Jun-16 15:27:01

Maybe not purple, not sure
Albany traditions in Highbrook??
Or perhaps one of the other Albany paint colours

wowfudge Thu 16-Jun-16 15:41:28

Not another expensive paint brand!

justaweeone Thu 16-Jun-16 15:58:38

Albany paint is loads cheaper than F&B
It's a trade paint sold through Brewers
Fab range of colours and decent paint

Wombat87 Thu 16-Jun-16 16:13:41

I have this - tho there is a filter on the pic so it's not quite this Brighton. Dulux feature wall, sapphire blue.

Wombat87 Thu 16-Jun-16 16:14:01

Bright. Not Brighton!

There are several dark/inky blue shades in the Little Greene collection (I think they are better than F&B). You might need a different shade to achieve the same effect, depending on your lighting.

A word of warning - I think this dark inky blue wall trend is going to look very 2015 pretty soon - it's a look that's gone everywhere.

Polpette Fri 17-Jun-16 19:08:59

I think Hick's Blue too. It's a deeper/richer blue than any of the F&B blues. Can be very dark in some lights and vibrant in direct light.

Polpette Fri 17-Jun-16 19:16:46

Good point Quodlibet but dark colours are stylish, style never goes out of fashion. Or at least that's what I keep telling myself as I love dark paint.

OP make sure you update us when you find out, I would hate this to be a Mumsnet mystery I never find the answer too (yes, I'm very sad).

justaweeone Fri 17-Jun-16 22:54:28

I'm sad as well
Please update Op

dotty2 Mon 20-Jun-16 12:26:22

Yes, me too!

RunLillian Tue 21-Jun-16 09:59:15

UPDATE - we have an answer!

MEGA props to Pennethorne's, who responded in record time.

It is a Dulux trade colour, RAL 5004 black blue.

dotty2 Tue 21-Jun-16 10:26:00

Excellent - thanks for sharing that

justaweeone Tue 21-Jun-16 17:52:20
