Who is responsible following survey?

I'm buying a flat which has been served with a section 20...waiting to find out how much it's going to cost. I put my offer in based on it being a certain amount and have since found out it could well be 3x that. Waiting for sols to find out about that from the vendors sols / management company.

My main question is that the survey came back with damp inside the property and issues with boundary and retaining walls which need looking at. My solicitor said that is down to the vendor to get quotes and get it sorted. Is he right? I can't figure out if this is something else I will need to fork out for!

Well you can pay for it if you want! Get your own quotes for the work and negotiate a reduction in the sale price. That way you can ensure the work is carried out as you want it.
